The brake ring, which is sawn, drilled and ground from forged HPSR steel bars, can expand unhindered without deforming even during repeated full braking, e.g. when driving down mountain passes. Here, too, the low carbon content of the HPSR steel used proves its worth, as it ensures very little structural change in the steel under the continuous thermal stress of heating up and cooling down the brake disc in tough road use.
